NaNoWriMo, day one

Did it go this well last year, on day one? I don’t remember, actually. I do remember that I was ahead of schedule for most of the month, but I don’t recall getting more than 3,000 words on the first day. That’s a writing velocity of 0.3 Lowells! Perhaps my personal best for writing, and I had to work today.

This was also an excellent day for my friend Heather, who wrote more than 2,000 words on her first day of her first NaNo. This is after getting completely bogged down in her first novel, unable to find time to work on it, unable to make progress when she did, wrapped up in research and outlining and preparation. She was worried that she wouldn’t be able to do NaNo, and she blew it out of the water on the first day.

Is there something in the air?
