THIS is how to do “Best (gender) Erotica.”

Burning Book Press has a new call for submissions, for a “Best Men’s Erotica” anthology.  Here’s a quote:

Best Men’s Erotica 2014 is to be the first of an annual collection of the best erotic stories from a male perspective. … Something the best writers, male and female can give us in spades.

(Emphasis mine)

And another quote:

We’re looking for fictional stories that realistically address male sexuality. The concept of the Male Gaze has dealt extensively with the sexualization and objectification of women. It has also buttonholed, objectified, and ‘predatorized’ male sexuality. BME hopes to demonstrate a broader, more realistic, and human spectrum.

Hallelujah, siblings. I am so glad that Raziel Moore and William Crimson are stepping up and taking this on, head-on.  I’m going to go out of my way to put something together for this anthology, especially since they allow for speculative fiction.

We’ve been waiting for this for TOO long. I wrote about this topic a few years back. Every time a certain anthology comes up with its annual call for submissions, the topic makes another rotation on the email lists, and a few people tut-tut and maybe write a blogpost.

Now these two brave gentlemen are stepping up and doing something.

Bravo.
